Forret.org E-Mail FAQs

A brief preface:
Originally, only this site's administrators held Forret.org e-mail addresses. These were available through the site's hosting provider, HostGo.com, and allowed us to connect to their POP3 server using our choice of e-mail tool (Microsoft Outlook, Eudora, etc.). We had the option to add other accounts, but there was a drawback: these free accounts could only receive e-mail. We were unable to send from those addresses. We felt this didn't offer enough capability for our site users.

While investigating HostGo's Add-On packages, Todd discovered Everyone.Net's third-party service. Their e-mail package is similar to Hotmail and Yahoo!Mail, in which users log on to the hosting server via their browsers, instead of e-mail tools like those listed above.

  • Who can sign up for a Forret.org e-mail account?
Until now, only the site's administrators have possessed free Forret.org e-mail addresses, these being available through our site hosting provider. We had the option to add other accounts, but there was a drawback: the free accounts could only receive e-mail. We were unable to send from those addresses. Offering this new e-mail service through Everyone.Net allows us to provide anyone with a connection to the Forret surname with the ability to create a free e-mail account at the Forret.org domain.

  • Where is the Forret.org e-mail service hosted?
The Forret.org e-mail account is hosted on a server belonging to Everyone.Net, a service provider for a variety of internet solutions. About Everyone.Net

  • How can this e-mail service be free?
Everyone.net generates revenue from its half of the banner advertising and from strategic partnerships. By providing free services and sharing the advertising space and revenue, it forms mutually beneficial relationships with its partner websites.

  • What is Everyone.net's banner policy?
Everyone.Net does not run banners that: (1) promote or contain obscene, pornographic, racist, libelous, or illegal materials; or (2) focus on gambling, alcohol, tobacco, or firearms. If you see a banner that violates this banner policy, you may notify Everyone.Net by sending an e-mail message to adblock@everyone.net with the details, including advertiser name, advertised product/service, banner URL, and a description of the banner.

  • What if a Forret.org e-mail user is spamming?
Everyone.net has a strict anti-spam policy and will disable users that are abusing their accounts. The Forret.org webmaster will then delete the offending account(s).

  • What is spam?
Primarily, spam is an unsolicited e-mail message sent to a large number of internet addresses. This is usually, but not always, characterized by a get-rich-quick scheme. A more detailed explanation of what spam is, and why it is unethical, may be found here.
