i recently started on my family tree and just found this message board. i have a little info on the
forret's of Iowa who came from the n. France/Luxembourg/Germany border. to answer one of Taylor's questions, i believe they came to the USA when Nicholas Feller returned to Europe(so our family story goes)from Booneville, Dallas Co. Iowa in the 1850's and found a wife, Magdelena Forret(1844), the oldest of the 9 living(2 more died young)siblings. i just presume that Nicholas took the whole family back to Iowa where the 2 youngest were born. Nicholas Feller was the son of Henry and i have been searching for more info on him and exactly where he came from. all i have is b. 1807. with this Forret info i am narrowing in and would appreciate any info. other info on N. Feller's siblings is scarce at this point, but i have their names: Mary, Ann(e), John, Jacob, and Andrew(grandfather of Famed Cleveland Indian pitcher (BOB) Robert William Andrew Feller of Booneville/Van Meter, Iowa. I am a gr-gr grandson of Nicholas and Magdalena, whose offspring mostly moved to South Dakota, Howard, Miner co. first(where i grew up) then elsewhere i can tell you about if interested.
i live in Watertown, SD. my oldere bro. Ted of Sioux Falls is the real family historian. i would welcome any response at bagoodfeller@hotmail.com. thanks to all who have provided any info. TO Tyler: it sounds like you and i are of the same Forret lineage. Bill Feller
